About Pivot Methanol's Founder

GREG DOLAN

In 2025, Greg Dolan formed Pivot Methanol LLC providing consulting services to build on a legacy of work supporting the global methanol industry.  Over nearly 30 years, Mr. Dolan held a variety of senior management positions with the Methanol Institute (MI), serving as CEO for 14 years of his tenure. He grew MI’s membership from 20 to 100 companies, representing the entire methanol value chain from global producers and distributors, renewable methanol project developers and technology leaders, to the world’s leading shipping companies.   Mr. Dolan led the expansion of MI from a US-based trade association to an international organization with offices in Washington, Singapore, Brussels, Beijing and Delhi.

As the voice of the global methanol industry, Mr. Dolan led global policy development and advocacy, social media engagement, and stakeholder relations.  He has presented on methanol-related topics at more than 200 international conferences, webinars, and podcasts, authored magazine articles, and written book chapters on the methanol industry.

Mr. Dolan came to MI after spending a decade in a variety of public information positions in New York State, with the Department of Environmental Conservation, the Energy Research and Development Authority, and the Department of Transportation. Mr. Dolan holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Boston University, and did extensive postgraduate work in Political Communication at the State University of New York-Albany.
